While we have made significant progress over the last few decades in establishing new cancer drug protocols, surgical techniques, radiation therapy technologies and other interventions, stage 4 cancers remain incurable in most cases, and all too often, many patients will experience a cancer recurrence after a period of remission.
Anyone who has been practicing oncology long enough will humbly admit that we need better cancer treatments (more effective, less toxic and cheaper). Oncology researchers have indeed been making incremental improvements in these aspects of cancer care, but more work is needed.
Cancer may be the most difficult scientific problem solve. Reductionist thinking is too simplistic, as cancer behaves like a multi-headed snake in that you can cut off one head but the others are still dangerous. We need to attack cancer using a multi-pronged approach. My approach to oncology does not focuses on a silver bullet, but rather an evidence-informed silver buckshot approach.

Ideally, all patients have access to integrative oncology, a holistic multi-pronged approach, which combines conventional oncology therapies, complementary therapies and functional medicine (the use of lab testing, body composition assessments and tracking important lifestyle variables to help improve the powerful innate mechanisms our body’s have to minimize cancer development, growth, spread and recurrence).
The use of off-label drugs and supplements by oncology patients has become very popular. Learn more about this.
Example integrative oncology approach:

If you want a consultation and/or access to my online course, read more here.
If you want to learn more about the comprehensive functional medicine testing I offer (in the U.S. and internationally), read more here.
To learn more about the specific supplements and doses I often recommend, set up an account through this Wellevate link (you will get a 10% discount on any purchases) and look for a protocol called “Dr Lawenda’s 2021 AntiCancer List V6.”
Always discuss your use of supplements with your oncology team.
